Back Stage India Shining
It is a chilly winter morning, the cold waves send shivers down my spine and I lightly hold the shawl around me. I walk down through a deserted road to make it to my friend's place whose little baby is unwell.
As I turned to get into the house I see a small baby carelessly wrapped in rags sleeping on a stone stab outside the house .if I am not mistaken the baby is not to be over an year old.
Two dogs are whimpering nearby but the baby is unmoved and unaffected. I look here and there with startling anguish as to how can a mother leave such a little one like this and that to on a chilly winter day.
A little far away i see a woman cleaning the road with a big huge broom. She is humming some hindi movie song; immersed sincerely in her job. She keeps a strict vigil on her baby, now and then she threatens the dogs as if to alert them not to come near the baby.
The woman after completing her chore comes to the baby with the big huge broom tucked under her arm. She effortlessly picks up the baby, looks with pride at it and leaves for the other side of the road.
I stand there spell bound, struck, staring as the mother-child duo move away.
What do you say my friend???
This is "THE BACK-STAGE OF INDIA SHINING"
